Our oldest daughter’s former college roommate asked me to make a memory quilt from her mother’s tee shirt collection. Of course, I agreed. How could I not, she is like another daughter to us. I didn’t want the typical memory … Continue reading

A few more pinwheels on the design wall. Of course, I will not put them all up there since I need like 140+ of them. Still many more to go.
I'm just sewing a few at a time between other projects. Trimming and pressing as I go. My ironing board seems to stay full of something that needs pressed. LOL!I've been working on more embroidered rope bowls. I have a craft show coming up on October 8th but I also have orders coming in right and left. Yesterday one lady ordered 9 bowls. I know it looks ... read moreLots of quilting in the works! I pieced a few more pinwheels for one of the customer quilts. He wants it by Christmas so I'm just piecing a few here and there until I get a few of these other quilt orders done. I'm also using the pieces for leaders and enders.
Just really running them through a few at a time and laying them on the ironing board and pressing them as I get a chance. These are 8" blocks.Saturday and Sunday I worked on cutting and prepping some shirts for a memory quilt. I have ... read more
The Christmas quilts are down and put away, as are the other ornaments, so it was time to hang a fresh quilt over the sofa. As the weather is nice and summery, I decided it was time to give my Aotearoa Blooming another chance to shine. Designed by Jenny Hunter as applique patterns, featured in the New Zealand Quilter magazine some years ago, I decided to make my blocks as stitcheries. The centre block showcases the pohutukawa, a large tree which bursts into crimson red blossoms with yellow tips in the heat of summer, and is also known as the ...

It's been a good and productive week around here! When the world goes crazy, sometimes sewing is the only way to deal with it - and that's good for productivity.
Tuesday I quilted this beauty, and put the binding on too!
Hi, all!
It's Monday, and I'm actually starting to feel my sew-jo coming back! I made progress on some things last week, and it feels so good - and I actually want to work on more stuff this week. So let's see how last week's list went...
Hi, all!
Well, it's official - my sew-jo is still AWOL! But it's Monday, and that means it's time to look back at last week and take stock, and then look at the week ahead and make plans. So let's get started with a look at last week's list...

Is it as hot where you are as it is here? Whew, it's been a scorcher over the past week, with ridiculous humidity levels that make it really easy to stay inside. Unfortunately, my sew-jo seemed to go into hiding so I didn't get as much done as I'd have liked, but I still had a respectable week. Let's take a look at last week's list...
Hi, all!
Wow - is it Friday already? This week has literally flown by, along with the rest of July. Can you believe that next week it's August, and in most of the country, kids will be heading back to school within a few days or weeks? I spent some extra time with the kids this week after my daughter reminded me that they start school next week (fingers crossed!) I'm kind of curious how my youngest granddaughter will do back in the classroom full time - she honestly never stops talking!
But enough chatter (I wonder where Emmy gets ...

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have seen progress shots of these two quilts, but yesterday saw the completion of both and they were shipped off to their owner!

As I sat down to write this, I looked at last week's list and thought, "Was that just a week ago?" Actually, I asked it out loud and my husband looked at me like I was crazy. It seems like much more than a week since I last checked my to-dos! But Monday has rolled around again, and it's time to see how last week went and figure out my goals for this week.
So let's see how I did on last week's list...
